Karoo Collection founder, Brooke Berlin, explores different African countries every year. In meeting with local co-ops and artisans, her personal collection of accessories has grown, along with a special collection of stories about the people and places associated with these items.
After requests from people wanting similar items themselves, and her desire to share the stories of Africa’s amazing fashion, art, culture, and music, Brooke created Africa Curated to offer certain pieces on a (sometimes) limited basis – with every purchase including a 10% donation to specific African non-profits.
THESE AREN'T IMPORTED. They are bought in person in small numbers so that they remain unique. In addition, Brooke teamed up with Lana Effron of Lana’s Shop to design a “safari stationary” line that will always be available.
Made at the 100% women-owned Rarity Handbags studio in Cape Town, South Africa, this one-size-fits-all cuff shows off the natural, raw beauty of ethically- sourced Nguni on the outside with leather lining. This is a truly exclusive item as only 20 individual cuffs in total were brought to the U.S. And, best of all, 10% of every Rarity Handbag cuff purchase made via Karoo Collection is donated back to the educational fund for the children of all Rarity’s employees.
Streetwires is a registered Fair Trade organization located in Cape Town, South Africa. They empower individuals by providing a space for dignified, creative, full-time work. 10% of every Streetwires purchase made via Karoo Collection is to the Tongabezi Tujatane Trust School in Zambia.
Share your love of Africa with a hand-written message on these individually illustrated, zebra note cards by Lana Effron. 10% of every Lana’s Shop purchase made via Karoo Collection is donated to the Tongabezi Tujatane Trust School in Zambia.
